Special Education Teacher, Elementary at Bynum School
Bynum School is a faith-based, nonprofit, private day school that serves students who have special needs ages pre-school through adult. Students may be diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, various learning disabilities, rare syndromes, and medical fragility. An Individual Program Plan that focuses on abilities, not disabilities, is prepared for each student. Inclusionary practices are provided through community-based instruction. Students receive academic instruction, music therapy, speech therapy, training in life skills, self-help skills, and vocational skills. Bynum School collaborates with other providers to offer summer day camp, physical therapy, and hippo therapy. Bynum School seeks energetic, dedicated, full-time teachers to provide appropriate educational experiences for students socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Teachers must be able to assess, plan lessons based on individual program plans, modify curriculum, document student progress, and implement a wide range of strategies to work with each individual need. Teachers must have working knowledge of disability categories and be able to provide services and support to all students. The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with students, co workers, and parents is essential. Applicants must demonstrate motivation and commitment to serving all students in a safe and nurturing environment and effectively supervise teaching assistants.
