Job Description

Bynum School, a nonprofit private day school that serves students who have special needs ages pre-school through adult, seeks an energetic and dedicated full-time teacher assistant. Students exhibit mild to severe cognitive and physical disabilities.

The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively is essential. Successful experience working with young children and children with special needs is required. With guidance from the teacher, the assistant will prepare classroom materials, keep a neat and orderly learning environment, assist students in and out of the classroom, and complete other duties as assigned. Teacher assistants work cooperatively with all staff to meet the needs of children by protecting student confidentiality, and by treating children and parents with respect. Assistants attend staff meetings and staff development sessions.

Job requirements include a high school diploma or GED, experience in special education or a related field, a valid Texas driver’s license, and the ability to lift or position students.
