Education Program Coordinator at Midland Rape Crisis and Children's Advocacy Center
JOB PURPOSE: To organize and deliver prevention and awareness education and community outreach education on child abuse and sexual violence issues, and to provide direct victims services to victims, in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the Midland Rape Crisis and Children’s Advocacy Center.
• Assist in development and implementation of prevention material, strategies and activities.
• Coordinate efforts to engage the community in prevention and awareness strategies and activities.
• Plan, organize and deliver community outreach education designed to inform the general public and specific groups to help identify victims of child abuse and sexual violence who might not otherwise be reached and provide or refer them to needed services.
• Plan, organize and deliver training for professionals and volunteers to improve their ability to provide services to victims of child abuse and sexual violence.
• Develop and implement evaluation services after prevention and awareness activities.
• Participate in the staff on-call rotation for after-hours crisis intervention, support services and medical accompaniment services.
• Provide crisis intervention, information and referral through the crisis-hotline or face-to-face contact in office.
• Maintain and document monthly, quarterly, and annual statistics on all case-related information and education activities.
• Attend meetings as necessary.
• Complete 40-hour Volunteer Sexual Assault Training.
• Attend other meetings and in-services, professional training and conferences as self-directed or requested by CAC Program Director or Executive Director
• Assist the Education Program Director/MRCCAC Board in fundraising efforts as needed.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Education Program Director or Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• A baccalaureate degree, preferably in an area of emphasis which relates to the responsibilities defined herewith.
• Understanding the dynamics of child abuse, child development, and sexual violence.
• Must be able to work with all victims of child abuse, sexual abuse and sexual assault without bias or prejudice regarding prostitution, drug abuse, and use of alcohol, difference in abilities, age, race, color, creed, or religious affiliation.
• Individual must be a strong communicator, have excellent written, presentation, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Individual be proficient in the use of computers for word processing, desktop publishing, databases, email and internet.
• A proven track record as an individual capable of maintaining confidentiality, and possessing emotional stability, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with others.
