Director of Finance at United Way of Midland

Job Description

United Way of Midland, Inc. is currently seeking to fill the position of Director of Finance.  The position manages and is responsible for all financial records and reports, accounting functions, data processing operations, and ensures system-wide integrity of financial data.

The person in this position will be expected to collaborate in a team environment for achieving organizational goals and objectives in accordance with United Way of Midland’s vision, mission, values, and strategic goals as approved by the Board of Directors.  Coordination with other staff members and community volunteers, by sharing responsibility for team efforts and outcomes is essential.  The best candidate will exhibit a high degree of ethics, integrity, and values aligned with the United Way of Midland’s mission and values.

This employee will provide expertise in financial planning and budget management in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including the policies and procedures outlined in the General and Financial Policies adopted by the Board of Directors of United Way of Midland.  The ability and experience to manage all aspects of the financial management of the organization, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll and employee benefits, annual audit, IRS reporting, monthly bank reconciliation, cash reports, journal entries, budget vs. actual, general ledger and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts is also essential.  The creation and maintenance of a financial culture of transparency, openness, credibility, and accessibility of information, especially to donors is highly important.

Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, prefer 5 years experience in financial accounting, administration, and/or administrative systems supervision.  Preference given for persons who have non-profit accounting experience.
