Director of Development at High Sky Children's Ranch
PRIMARY DUTIES Understand percent rate of return with time, money spent, and funds received through foundations, corporations, trust, appeal letters, and special events; plan and implement donor recognition program. Plan and implement High Sky's communication program through updating marketing tools including photo albums, brochures, etc., public speaking, touring groups as well as preparing and meeting deadlines. Identify and research prospects by developing background information on existing foundations, trusts, corporations and new ones and by developing and meeting deadlines. Identify, define and acquire funding resources available to High Sky Children’s Ranch. Coordinate all approaches to prospects in foundations, corporations and trusts through key Board of Directors, Board of Governors, and individuals by preparing all proposals and letters by deadlines set either by the donor or by the budgeting process. Provide central coordination for community fund raising projects as well as creating the organization and necessary tools (i.e. committee notebooks) along with the Executive Assistant Director. Coordinate advertising and public relations for fundraising events. Provide monthly written reports for the Board of Directors meeting and as needed for the Executive Director. Log all cash and check gifts, identifying appropriate allocations. Log all in-kind gifts and coordinate pickups by Property Manager; identify needs with donors, homes and shelters in order to place donations. Prepare and mail thank you letters for all gifts, to include cash, in-kind and professional services along with the Executive Assistant Director. Work collaboratively with staff members to identify avenues of economic support for programs/projects. Develop strategies for and coordinates all fund-raising activities of the Agency in keeping with Agency goals. Aggressively seeks new corporate/foundation funding sources and maintains relationships with current/past donors. Represents Agency in meeting with potential funding sources. Responsible for maintaining close working relationships with the Foundation Board and the active, ongoing, and smooth functioning of this Board as it seeks to increase private and public-sector funding for the Agency. Maintains ongoing contact with the Agency’s staff regarding programs and plans. Examines ways of packaging and marketing these programs to philanthropic supporters. Maintains knowledge about the external environment as it relates to High Sky Children’s Ranch mission. Manage the implementation of Razor’s Edge and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing.
OTHER DUTIES With the Executive Director, explore opportunities for enhancing High Sky's programs for children and youth, and how that is to be reflected in the community. Establish objectives and policies for obtaining and receiving gifts. Identify New Fund-raising Leadership and maintain relations through the Board of Directors, Board of Governors, and key individuals. Motivate and provide staff support to fundraising volunteers by keeping communication efforts open to the Board of Directors, Board of Governors and key individuals. Follow up on all areas of development. Provide phone back-up for secretary and records coordinators.
Must have a Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience. Master's degree is preferred. Complete Child Placing Agency and GRO contracts renewals annually. Maintain compilation of daily gifts in a monthly format to reconcile with bookkeeper. Proofread contracts for Stay Together program and any other documents as needed. Maintain compliance with all High Sky policies, procedures and requirements. Work successfully as part of a team to provide programs to meet the needs of youth; develop then maintain strong working relationships with co-workers. Conduct or assist in evaluation and training activities.
